A day to remember

13 April was the day ! It was a very hush hush affair in my home..i hadn't disclosed it to my mom where i was was going (coz she wont certainly allow me if i had told her b4 itslef..)so in morning when i asked her for a 500 RS note..she asked me with raised eyebrows.."where are you going ?"..TATS IT. It was time to tell her. I told her ..and after some arguments and "fake" sentimental talks abt "last farewell" i managed to persuade her.

I picked up my good friend abarna at her hostel and we walked the way to chrompet Bus Stand. On the way i found that my "vandi" keys were missing.I made her wait and ran back at full speed to hunt for it,only to find that they were still in my jeans pocket..

We reached Tambaram where some of my friends were waiting for us and a bunch of others.During the period of waiting we were frequently flocked by beggars finding different excuses to beg for money. we had a difficult time managing them and had we stayed for few more mins we certainly wld have reached Queensland with empty pockets.

After a pretty surprisingly comfortable journey, we reached our destination where we were greeted by our other gang members with the usual fanfare(which includes high pitched Shouting and yelling at the top of one's voice).we got the tickets and went in...As soon as we reached i knew what was forthcoming. Again the usual high decibel hoot followed. Some other college guys tried in vain to give us some competition but were given a severe "nose cut" by our shouts of "Mokkai Mokkai".

Free fall was the inaugural ride..it looked quite menacing at first(to me atleast). With a little hesitation i went for it and ensured tat all the safety gear were at their respective places..(reason: "i dint want the free fall to be my fall to death").it turned out quite okay..after the ride i wished tat the fall were from a greater height.

Next were a couple of really innocuous rides which were enjoyable but not scary any bit.after the two rides was the "TRAIN".I found that my good friend swathi was really skeptical to walk in.it was quite thrilling nevertheless and had some decent fun. Then came the Roller coaster..again swathi was hesitant to join in, so i tried to sweet talk her with the fake promise of "getting whatever she wants if she takes the Roller Coaster". But as expected she wasn't game to it.

After the roller coaster we again went to few rides, made noise and had fun. We went to a so called Fun House(the name was a total mismatch). I had anything but fun in that Fun House..By the time i came out i was perspiring like i had had ...(u know what).Mirror House followed next which was succeeded by The Dark House. i saw some provocative pictures on the outside which really excited me and my guy friends for that matter. i had to go in and after doing just that i saw many WEIRD lukin beasts, crocodiles, sharks etc etc.All the things tat shld have been there to scare 2 year olds, not 21 year olds. after coming out all i could think was that " how the hell is it supposed to be scary".. i was lol...

Next came the most important part of our trip.." THE FOOD"..we all ordered whatever we wanted ( thanks to a generous treat by TCS & CTS placed Guys, which is the only good outcome of me not getting placed in TCS..as i dint have to take out my wallet.)and none had got what they had "ordered". So we managed to eat wat ever was in our hands.

After food it was tyme for sum swimming. All the boyz ventured off into the poll like a bunch of water thirsty maniacs. the rides in the water pool were really scary as i have an innate fear of water (which were really maximized by the time i had completed all the rides).but i wasn't alone as my good friend GIRISH, like always , gave me company. If i was scary he was horrified. In one of the water tubes he came rolling down shouting "kapathunga kapathunga".The shocked and numb reaction which he gave when he splashed on water will never be forgotten by me and my friends nearby. After some time Teacher Ijaz was busy taking floating lessons for me, arjun and girish. Needless to say his efforts proved futile as both me and girish dint learn a thing where as arjun showed some signs of improvement.

All types of antiques were on show by us guys in the swimming pool. we were falling, crawling, jumping, pushing, climbing and even diving from each other's bodies.it was really like a circus out there except that we dint get any money for it.

After the swim "everything happened that usually happens after a swim" and i got my hands on a cup of hot brewing coffee.A group photo was taken by an amateur photographer. From there we headed to the other remaining rides awaiting us. I went back to THE DARK HOUSE for completely different reasons(which are really not worth blogging).

The Day culminated in the "Pirate boat Ride". As this was the final ride we managed to persuade everybody to join in this ride(even swathi) barring girish who had his own justified but private reasons for not joining us.This was perhaps the highlight of the day.

ok now time for some philosophical BS. As the ship was swinging like a pendulum through the highs and lows i was suddenly reminded of the zilch highs and many lows that i had undergone through my college life. i thought of faces opposite me and behind me who too had undergone something similar in their respective lives. as i was lukin, i saw divya who appeared just on the verge of vomiting out watever she had eaten that day. i was worried for anand and vishnu who were sitting right across her. she too noticed my apprehension and later told that it was just a deep cough and not wat i had feared.

So the Joy ride(literally and figuratively) ended and it was time for us to head back to our respective homes.there was an eerie and indescribable feeling of a separation that engulfed me (atleast me dont know abt others). A sudden realization that such kinds of trips wont be possible in the future.it was an end to our college life and a new opening to the rest of our lives. we will be separated by people, places and time. But one thing that is sure to bind us will be the memories of the day. After 50 years hopefully when we see our grandchildren going out, we will surely be reminded of this day. .i will definitely remember the 34 mates who made me a great day. This memory will last a lifetime.
